Interior

Well, I figured since I am getting the car resprayed in a awesome orange colour a white interior would look pretty smick. Pretty  much getting the doors done in white vinyl, and also getting the roof done in a white vinyl as well. I have a rear vl calais back seat in white so that will match as well.  All that is done so far is the dash, well taken it apart anyway.

You start off by removing the air con sockets with a small flat head screwdriver and then unscrewing the 2 screws inside of there, You then proceed to undo every screw in sight and the dash eventually comes apart. It is fairly straight forward.

Here are the pics as usual:

- The interior with the bottom half missing.

 - Where the pedal box is and the steering column used to reside. Also note all the wires

- me getting in and taking apart the aircon (which was a bitch)

DASH:

I purchased some paint from autobarn today to paint my interior. Now I've painted interiors before using crappy 2 dollar paint and it turned out shithouse.. So I invested a $16 per can for some VHT VINYL DYE in white. It looks groovy. I also got some wax and grease remover (VERY IMPORTANT).

I used the instructions given to me by VMAN of Street Commodores online Forum... Which basically reads this:

"if u prep the dash really well and use the vinyl spray u will have no probs . . jus make sure u put on say 4 light coats . . not one heavy coat

i took all of the dash out minus the crash pad and painted it all seprately

the windsreen was out so the dash pad was also pretty easy . .

jus make sure u prepsol everything really well . . and also make sure u use a clean rag and go over what u have cleaned to remove the left over prespsol!!

thats one of the most important things . .

i drive the vk everyday . . things get thrown in the front when im in a hurry like bags etc . . and its left outside in the hot sun nearly all year and it still looks like it was done yesterday!! . .

been on for 2 years now with no probs . . even the armrests are holding up . .

i was expecting to have to redo it by now . . only the window winders have been scratched, mainlu due to ppl's jewelery!!"

So there you go. I followed those instructions and this is what it looks like so far...

- Paint I used

- The dash hanging up drying after being painted

- The gutted interior

- Top half of the dash...

DOOR TRIMS:

The door trims I was going to get covered in vinyl. I could not justify the cost of getting it done professionally so I had a shot of doing it myself. And well it came out alright... The materials I used was well white vinyl and some foam stuff I got from Clark rubber.

1st thing to do is to remove the original door trim. It is just stapled on so go for your life and remove all the staples. After you have done this give it a bit of a sand to get the glue to adhere a bit better. Then you spray it down with spray on adhesive and stick the foam to the door like the pics below...

Now cut off the excess and respray it with the adhesive stuff. wack on the vinyl. After you have put on the vinyl, pull back the edges and hold it with something of your choice. I chose tacs but am trying to think of a more perminant solution. If you have one let me know please... Heres a pic of the finished trim!

HOODLINING

I got an auto retrimmer to make up the hoodlining and then with the help of Jaws we fitted it int and glued it in place. I am still deciding whether or not to put the centre light in. Not much to say really - its a hoodlining and its white :P

DASH

Well most of the dash is now in, and my digital dash works so I'm a happy chappy... The dash has been finished in white and is a tad dirty due to some dirty hands in there... Should come off pretty easy though. Some pics of the dash...

PARCEL SHELF

I had a new parcel shelf made up to replace the non existent old one. pictures say 1000 words here....
